When a European manufacturer sought to introduce two new products to the US market, we were asked to conduct independent design evaluations of the machines in regards to the safety of its operator and nearby ground personnel. Our analysis involved examining prototypes, researching and reviewing applicable national and international standards, reviewing historical accident data for this category of machine, and examining and evaluating competitor products for comparison purposes. We also conducted our own independent risk assessments. Our investigation revealed several items the manufacturer was able to address before the machines were offered for sale.
